As active members of our community, we understand the vital role that community groups play in fostering unity and cooperation among residents. We would like to acknowledge the pioneers at Block Island Economic Development (BIED) for their tireless efforts and dedication to creating affordable housing on the island over several decades, the equally hardworking Block Island Housing Board, and many individuals and business who have and continue to contribute. 

Block Island Housing Initiative looks forward to working collaboratively with the other organizations on Block Island who share our common goal of increasing the amount of attainable housing. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our community.

Our intention in starting the Block Island Housing Initiative is to provide an additional avenue for assisting in the creation of attainable housing through grants funded by tax-deductible private donations. As we evolve, we are hoping to develop more creative solutions to alleviate the housing challenges faced by individuals and families in our community. By fostering dialogue and building relationships, we strive to create a supportive environment that encourages the expansion of attainable housing initiatives.
